James Dixon is a Mountain Brook, Alabama-based financial planner with more than three decades of experience. A graduate of the University of Alabama, Mountain Brook resident James Dixon earned his undergraduate degree and an MBA in finance at the school. He later completed the Securities Industry Institute program at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Dixon began his career as an equity trader at Sterne Agee & Leach, Inc. in 1994. After one year in this position, he joined the firm's fixed-income trading department. He spent a year in this capacity, then spent 12 years managing investments for the firm's Private Client Group. He served as division president of the group from 2008 to 2015.
Since then, Mr. Dixon has worked as managing director of the southeast region at Stifel Nicolaus & Company, where he leverages his extensive experience to manage investment portfolios for high-end clients. He holds Series 7, 8, 63, and 65 licenses, and is a former officer with the Birmingham Bond Club. Outside of his professional endeavors, he enjoys outdoor hobbies such as snow and water skiing, fishing, hunting, and playing golf.
